Big news:

- Telephone Thing's Outlands will be out in the coming weeks, in the ever so limited edition of fifty copies.

- High Marks' Closing Doors is now out of print. Sad, but maybe someday it will be reissued or some such thing.

- A black & white photocopy mini poster collage is out (persistentmidnight006) called Damages, in the tiny edition of twenty five, hand numbered. They're free with the purchase of one of our recordings.

ROMAN PHOTOS "Live at the 529" CDr

Atlanta dance/postpunk/dub band Roman Photos are putting out a collection of demos on persistentmidnight called "Live at the 529" (persistentmidnight005). Collected are their first demo song (the Moroder-esque electronic joint "Highway") and several performances from the the 529 club, hot off the mixing board and slightly edited for your listening pleasure. The demo is limited to 100 copies, so pick them up while you can.

Roman Photos have played shows with the likes of Atlanta favorites like Carnivores, Living Rooms, Pleasure Cruise, and Predator at little hotspots all over Atlanta. The band has a busy schedule for the coming months, with more shows and recordings on the horizon. You can find them at their myspace (linked on the right) and email them at romanphotosmusic@gmail.com.

Upcoming

Right now, we're in the planning stages of two more releases...

- Telephone Thing CDr (limited ed, 50) one man ATL post punk engine combines dance beats and dark post punk froth.

- Kidneys/High Marks Tape (limited ed, 65) Salt Lake post punkers meet ATL's one man minimal synth enigma.

We'll be working on those and a few other things. We're out of copies of the High Marks CDr "Closing Doors" but the Wool-e-Shop has a few for sale, and so does Stickfigure distro. We still have "Dry Marks," Femme Covert's "To Live and Cry in NC" and Skin Problems' "Meth Deth" in print and in stock.

Skin Problems' "Meth Deth" CDr

Skin Problems, aka SKN PRBLMS, Atlanta's only No(w) Wave trio finally release their demo/collection "Meth Deth" (persistentmidnight002). Spikey, brittle guitars crash into hammering bass and the technical, creative percussion as the yelps of a frontman with a true axe to grind hover somewhere amidst it all. If no wave, later day garage punk and 80s hardcore could somehow make a little baby, the screaming bastard probably would have been called Skin Problems.

The band is only doing 50 copies in their initial (and most likely only) pressing. Be sure to get yours soon.

Femme Covert "To Live and Cry in NC" CDr

North Carolina synthpunk duo Femme Covert have finally completed their new CDr, rightfully titled "To Live and Cry in NC" (persistentmidnight004) The release compiles songs from their yet unreleased vinyl split with Cantwell, Gomez and Jordan and two smoldering new tracks (including their longest and best jam yet). They will have the release on their lucrative East Coast tour, so pick one up, they're limited to 44 sweet copies. Whatever they don't sell on the road will be available through Persistentmidnight.

If you've followed Femme Covert's subtle evolution over the years, you will quickly realize the band's sound has gotten much more danceable and fun. That being said, there's no mistaking the synth driven punk rock of Femme Covert; this is still the work of two weirdo punks who love synths and screaming... synthpunxnotdead.

DRY MARKS CDr

DRY MARKS (persistentmidnight003) is now finally out on CDr. It's 25 plus minutes of minimal synth informed post punk music from the Atlanta area musician. The CDr is housed in a handsome tan sleeve and features a black and white, hand numbered insert.

About six months after the first real release, High Marks is back with more synth heavy songs of depression, longing, dissolution, and late nights. The production mirrors the same dark claustrophobia of the first album, with some new atmospheric quirks to boot. If you liked the first CDr, there's something for you to like on this one.

You can email sleepawayrecordings@yahoo.com to order a copy, $6 post paid. This label accepts paypal and concealed cash.

#002 out soon...

And just so people know, Atlanta art punk/now wave trio Skin Problems (SKN PRBLMS) will be putting out their demo Meth Deth on Persistent Midnight. It will in fact be a cdr, and the band hasn't gotten back to me about an edition number or anything. Plenty of spiky guitar, yelping vocals, rumbling bass, and quirky, metronomic drum thrashing throughout... all recorded by mr. Andrew Wiggins of HAWKS fame.

Horizons

In the next couple of months, there are a few potential projects that might potentially be attached to Persistent Midnight, one being a no wave demo and another being a synth project. But details can't be shared just yet.
